Best Car Insurance For Teenagers – Take Care in Making Selection

Getting the ideal auto insurance for your teenager ward can be bit tough experience for majority of parents. Here you should remain prepared to pay hefty amounts for getting a suitable insurance cover. But remember this is a reality and like all other parents you have to face it as well. If you are looking to get quality auto insurance for your teenage child then you need to follow certain guidelines to get the most suitable insurance for them. It is a very common fact that buying car insurance for teenagers is a major concern for the parents due to the high premium of auto insurance being charged. It’s ironical that parents have to spend less amount of money for their own car insurance in comparison to their teenager ward’s car insurance. Even senior citizens get auto insurance at a lower cost as compared to the teenagers’ automobile insurance.

Auto Insurance for teenagers is costly because insurance companies consider teenagers as a high risk category. As it is, teenagers are more prone to accidents. While driving, most likely they may suffer or cause injury to others.

The teenagers share this common intention to drive the car in super fast speed, not knowing properly how to control the car in an emergency. Many times this can lead to an accident. The insurance company has to pay huge amount as an insurance claim is such a situation. Due to this reason the rate being charged is higher for the automobile insurance for teenagers.

Here are some factors which affect the premium of the auto insurance for teenagers heavily. If these factors are taken care of, then the premium of the car insurance for teenagers can be lowered by great extent. One such point is that one should take drivers’ certificate by joining drivers’ education classes conducted by various operators or the motor vehicles department of that particular state, this helps the teenagers a lot to get a low interest rate.

Another is good driving record without any road safety violation ticket or prior accident record in his or her name. The clean record helps the teenagers to get lower insurance rate gradually. Other points like consistent grade card or report also helps. It is assumed that good graders are always cautious even on road and so the chance of getting into accident for them is lower too. And this assumption helps them get discount on car insurance for teenagers leading to low premium for them.

And after getting the automobile insurance if teenagers maintain good record then he or she may get benefit the next time onwards.

Top Tips On How To Get The Best Shine From

Top Tips On How To Get The Best Shine From Your Car

We all love that brilliant shine of a new car in the dealer’s showroom or at an auto show. There are hundreds of car care products and treatments available. The question is what works best and how do you do it?

First, you must properly clean and wash your car. Polishing and waxing a unclean car is sure to leave hairline scratches from dirt and debris on the car. Proper car washing and cleaning should be a main staple of any car care regimen or treatment. It is a proven fact that cars that receive routine car washes will last longer (as evidenced in a recent Popular Mechanics magazine). To properly wash your car, first rinse it off. Get the whole car wet and try to spray off any loose dirt and debris. Then use specific car wash soap (regular household items and chemicals are usually too harsh and can strip the wax or sealant right off) and a soft sponge or towel. Wash one panel or area at a time and rinse when done so the suds and soap won’t dry on the paint. When done dry off the car with clean terry towels or microfiber towels (a chamois works great also).

Next, examine your car. Look at the bumpers, behind the tires, the roof, etc… Are there any contaminants like bug splatter, bird droppings, tree sap, etc… that are still there after washing? You can try and rewash these areas with a little more pressure to try and loosen them up. If they still don’t come off, you will need a contaminant remover. This is a spray and each has their own unique formula and set of directions. Some are similar to foaming glass cleaners and others are a thick emulsion that will sit right on the problem area and not drip off. These contaminant sprays will remove most stuck on road debris and there are formulas specifically for road tar and tree sap as they can be more difficult. Follow the directions and then rinse and dry.

To smooth out any imperfections in the paint we recommend a cleaner wax. According to a study by Consumer Reports of every wax currently produced it was found that Turtle Wax was the best for value, durability and shine. So, there is no need to waste your money on expensive treatments that will not deliver a finish as well as a $2 bottle of Turtle Wax. Apply the cleaner wax in small circular motions and do one panel at a time, same as you did with car washing. Let the cleaner wax dry to a white haze and then buff with a clean terry cloth. Repeat as necessary.

Next, what we recommend is that you use a polymer car polish (again, there is no need for expensive treatments – you are just wasting your money). A good polymer car polish can be obtained at Walmart for between $2 and $5. They always come as a liquid and are very easy to apply and really do last longer than any car wax (up to 1 year and 50 car washes as some labels state). Apply to the whole car and buff dry. Apply 2-3 coats for maximum protection.

After the car polish we recommend a high class carnauba wax (again there is no need for expensive treatments). Turtle wax platinum car wax is around $5-$7 and so are some Meguiars and Mothers top waxes. This will give you a better than new deep and wet looking shine. Apply 2 coats in similar fashion to the cleaner wax. Wait until you see the resultant shine from wax on top of polish. It is unbelievable and gives your car the best shine possible and also the maximum protection available. This is how they get that extra deep shine on cars at the auto shows – it works and you will be amazed.

Take Care When Hiring a Car on Holiday

August 21, 2010 By: admin Category: Auto Care

A recent survey carried out by the AA has found that a shockingly low number of car hire companies pass vital safety checks, so you should be careful when you choose a car and a company from which to hire one from. Some of the issues the inspectors found were overcharging on credit cards, but the more serious issues where, missing vehicle checks and faulty vehicles that could put you in serious danger if you were to hire from them.

The vehicle checks are done to make sure the car is safe to drive, if these checks are not done, not only may the car be unsafe but any pre-existing damage to the car before you drove it could be blamed on you, their own contracts can sometimes not be translated into English and leave you with little recourse against any accusations. Before you take the keys to any hire car you should inspect the vehicle yourself. You don’t need a degree in mechanics to know what to look for. The type of damage shady car hire companies will be sticklers for is cosmetic, so make sure you note and point out any chips, scratches or dents to the owner first.

Reporting major faults such as the brakes or handbrake not working or dripping oil are also a must. In warmer weather the importance of coolant can be greater than back in the UK, tyres must be checked as you’ll be driving on uneven surfaces and dirt tracks in many Mediterranean climates.

Another thing you can get charged for by unscrupulous car hire firms is not bringing the car back with petrol. Obviously you don’t want to spend more than you have to and the thought of someone else driving round with the petrol you paid for may not be the nicest, but some hire firms can take a pretty strong stance on this, so make sure you check what level you should fill the tank when you return the car – in most cases this will only be half or quarter a tank.

Insurance coverage is something you need to be sure of when you take out a hire car, you need to be clear that what you are covered against but also whether there are any surcharges that you may have to pay. Car hire firms are notorious for charging anything they want for adding a second driver to the agreement with costs being from nothing to only 31 Euros.

How Auto Accidents and Chiropractic Care Can Go Hand In

How Auto Accidents and Chiropractic Care Can Go Hand In Hand

For the large number of people that have been in an auto accident at some point in time, many have suffered from injuries and have not even been aware of it. It’s true that people who are in a severe auto accident recognize right away if something is wrong. Many who are in more minor auto accidents may never realize that they have been injured.

The human body can be incredibly tough and resilient to a certain extent. However, it can also suffer from minor injuries that are never even noticed. This is often the case for those who have been in auto accidents that left them with no major injuries. The body is not invulnerable to having things happen inside without giving any symptoms. For example, when the body is jerked around in an auto accident, there are forces at play that can impact the spine. Some people notice this in more severe situation where whiplash has been suffered, but in other cases, this goes completely unnoticed.

However, just because the patient cannot tell outright that there is a problem deep within the spine; it does not mean that there isn’t one. This is where chiropractic services can provide a great deal of help. They have the means to pinpoint minor problems with the spine that may never have been previously thought of.The often use techniques such as x-ray and ultrasound to determine if the spine is in proper alignment or not. Even minuscule variations of how the spine is supposed to be can alert them to a cause of certain symptoms. This is because chiropractors hold to the belief that the nervous system is essentially the control panel to all other systems in the body. Therefore, if something is wrong with the nervous system, then problems can suddenly crop up elsewhere with seemingly no cause.

Chiropractors focus on realigning the spine in order to ensure that the spinal cord and the nerves connecting to it are uninhibited. If the spine is not in proper alignment, then the nervous system can receive messages that cause it to distort the way the rest of the body functions. While some of these problems such as headaches and back pain can easily be traced back to the spine, other symptoms are not so relatable. For example, problems such as allergies or asthma could arise. These are problems that would not usually be traced back to the spine, but these are indeed things that can arise from misalignment caused by an auto accident.

However, most traditional doctors do not usually seek to trace a problem back to its ultimate cause. Instead they only treat the noticeable symptoms whereas a chiropractor will look for the most fundamental cause of a problem. Chiropractors use gentle techniques that are non-invasive in order to properly realign the spine. Since they are considered to be in the field of alternative medicine, it is very rare that they actually prescribe medications.

It is reasons such as these that it is highly recommended to seek chiropractic care after an auto accident so that problems can be stopped before they even have the chance to start.

How to Care For Your Car Paint

August 18, 2010 By: admin Category: Auto Care

For those out there passionate about their drive and the aesthetics of their vehicles, there is no news in saying that painting the car is not enough to make it beautiful. But there are also guys and girls, equally passionate about their wheels, which did not get the chance to learn about cleaners, polishers and waxing techniques, all of which can make a beautiful car into the shining pride of its owner. These lines are for them and include a few tips and tricks that hopefully will help keep their car’ paint bright and shiny.

First things first – start by properly washing your car. You can do that by using cotton cloth, some cleaning products specially designed for automotive use, and plenty of water, of course. In choosing the cleaning product, try to buy something with a balanced PH and a formula that won’t damage the already existing layer of wax. A good tip is to mix the cleaning product with some lubricant before the wash. This way you can prevent scratching.

Second – and this is important – dry the vehicle thoroughly after the wash. Do so in order to avoid formation of water spots. Professionals recommend using 100% cotton or sheepskin for drying the car, as polyester can scratch the paint surface. Also, you can use the drying kit that many car care product lines offer and which are said to be super absorbent.

Usually this should be enough to give the paint the new and shiny feel you sensed when you first bought the car. But sometimes this is just not enough, with all the road dirt, birds and bugs out there. If that’s the case, you should use a detailing clay bar. Pay attention, however, as the technique for using clay is a learned skill. Always combine clays with lubricants. If too little lubricant is used then clay use will only result into scratched paint. One thing to remember about clay is that it will not, under any circumstances, remove or contribute to the removal of scratches.

If still not satisfied with the brightness and shine of your car, then it’s time to apply some polish. Polishers are non-abrasive products based on nutrient oil formulas and may or may not include chemical cleaners. Most polishes also use fillers to help cover swirl marks and softer scratches. The final step in this elaborate grooming process is wax application. It is not by chance that it takes place at the end, as it is the best thing you can do to protect the car’s paint from bad weather and aggressive environmental factors such as acid rain.

Tire Care – Tips to Prolong the Life of Your Tires

Quality car tires can increase your safety on the road by many times. It can also save you a lot if you take care that you are using car tires in the right conditions since good and well-maintained tires will give you better mileage that any other.

Let’s look at some of the important tips on how to maintain the four wheels of your vehicle and take care of those, so that the wheels last long in good conditions.

o Always maintain the correct tire pressure for your car wheels. You will get the tire pressure specification in the glove compartment or on the sides of your car doors. If you maintain the correct tire pressure, then the car will run smoothly giving you a good mileage. Tires with low tire pressure than is required will drag on the road creating friction which will eventually cost your less mileage. Tires in right pressure ensure a good balance on the road, better handling and grip.

o Whenever the temperature drops drastically, check the tire pressure. The pressure within the tire falls too with a drop in temperature. This will eventually lead to more resistance on the road or on the snow for your vehicle. For a drop of ten degrees of Fahrenheit, there is a drop of one pound of pressure within the tire. So ensure that the tire pressure is well-maintained whenever there is a drop in temperature or a drastic change in weather conditions.

o Always rotate your tires. This helps in equal amount of wear and tear for all the tires. Tires should ideally be rotated once in every six months.

o The type of tire that you are using whether radial or bias belted will depend upon the car you are using and will also dictate the kind of care you should take for each. The radial tires cause less friction with the road, thereby making the engine work smoothly and give a better mileage.

o Consult a tire professional while choosing your replacement tire. Your replacement tire should ideally have a rolling resistance that is on the lower side of the scale which will in turn give a better fuel efficiency.

o Last but not the least is the wheel alignment. Always ensure that the wheels are properly aligned. This is not just for your safety, better handling of the car and fuel efficiency but also to ensure uniform wear and tear for the tire. Badly aligned wheels will again lead to dragging of the car on the road and if the tires are off balance then that would compromise on the stability of the car on road.

You will be surprised if you follow the tips above continuously for a month or so. You will immediately start noticing the increased fuel efficiency of your car, the better handling and maneuverability of your vehicle. Every car has its own specific tire type that goes best with it. For better performance always choose one and enjoy safe driving.

Must a Dealership Work on My Car to Maintain Factory

August 15, 2010 By: admin Category: Auto Care

Must a Dealership Work on My Car to Maintain Factory Warranty?

Many people think their vehicles have to be serviced at an official dealership in order to maintain their factory warranty. This is an urban myth that is believed By many car owners. Unfortunately even some so called experts believe this and provide it as a reason for people to choose dealers over independent auto care centers. Needless to say this is a myth that dealerships are happy exists, and might even help to maintain.

However, the truth is that as long as you have a record of service & maintenance history your factory warranty is safe. This does not mean you should never take your car to a dealership. Even though the hourly rate is higher at these auto care centers there may be personal reasons why you choose to do so. They tend to employ only the best technicians and guarantee all the parts used on your vehicle are OEM. However the same can be the case for an independent auto shop.

What is important is to make sure the auto care center, whether a dealership or an independent shop, is a good one. These tips should help. Shop around for a good mechanic before you actually need one. You can start by trying out a few places for your basic car maintenance and this will be a good test for how good they will be for you when you have serious repair to deal with.

Looking for a good shop when your car has broken down is not the smartest idea. You might even avoid serious repairs if you keep on top of your car’s maintenance. Ask the auto care center for references and check up on them. Some of you may feel embarrassed to ask for references.

You shouldn’t be afraid to ask for these. After all, doctors are willing to offer references to new patients, so mechanics shouldn’t have a problem. If yours does, well maybe you shouldn’t choose them after all. Contact your local Better Business Bureau and check the rating of your auto care center. They might also be able to provide a list of their best performing members.

Ask what kind of warranty they provide on their work. It pays to look for shops that provide a national warranty program. This way the parts and labor of any repairs will be covered for a year of 12,000 miles. This will give you much needed peace of mind.

Choose a auto care center that has the right equipment to do the job. Most cars on the road now use computer controlled systems to control the fuel efficiency, reduce pollution. Only care centers that are equipped with the latest computer diagnostic equipment can guarantee a quick and efficient service. Next, check for qualifications.

You want to make sure your mechanics have the right qualifications. A good guideline is to make sure your auto care center employs technicians that are certified by the ASE. The good thing about this certificate is that technicians have to take training and testing every 5 years to keep the certificate valid. This provides some assurance that your mechanic has kept up to date with his training.

Why Does Long Term Care Insurance Make Sense?

August 15, 2010 By: admin Category: Auto Care

For instance, if your car is in a wreck, you need to have it fixed, so you take it to a body shop. If it breaks down, you take it to a mechanic. Long Term Care insurance works the same way. If you have a wreck, like a heart attack or stroke, you need to have it fixed, and this insurance can provide for a nursing home while you recover. It kicks in when you can’t do at least 2 Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) like dressing or cooking for yourself. If you break down, Long Term Care insurance is there if you need a visiting nurse or in-home caregiver to come in every day.

However, you, unlike your car, don’t come with a warranty.

If you keep your car for a long time, the car insurance rates go down because it doesn’t cost as much to fix it and eventually the car becomes worthless. This does not happen with Long Term Care insurance. As you grow older, your value does not decrease, even though you may feel worn out. Based on your age, the price of Long Term Care insurance goes up each year you wait to initialize your purchase. A 40 year old male in good health can purchase a policy for less than $900/yr that will give him lifetime coverage, adjusted for inflation, whether in his community or a nursing home. A 65 year old male, in the same shape and purchasing the same coverage will have premiums of $2500/yr. If both start to use their policy at age 80, they will put in roughly the same total amount in their lifetime. However, if they don’t start until age 85, the 65 year old will spend almost $10,000 more in annual premiums for the insurance. That is a far cry from worthless!

There are a lot of similarities between car insurance and Long Term Care Insurance, like a good driver discount would compare to being rated as high risk if your health does not maintain a high level. There is also the multi-car discount which compares to the spousal policy discount. You can get options on your car insurance like Bodily Injury, Liability, and Property Damage, and you can select all kinds of different deductibles. You can get options on your Long Term Care Insurance like 2, 3, 5 or lifetime benefit period, 30, 60, 90 or 180 day waiting period, community coverage, facility coverage, or both, inflation adjustments, and you can pick whatever amount of coverage you choose.

All of these similarities are interesting, but there is one striking difference: Car Insurance, which only is used by 1 in 24 vehicles, is MANDATORY, but Long Term Care Insurance, which affects HALF OF OUR POPULATION, is OPTIONAL!

Long Term Care insurance carries the same risk as car insurance, in that if you never have a claim, you have paid for nothing except peace of mind. The difference between them in this respect is that only one car in 24 ever has a claim filed, but half of our population will require some form of care. Repeating that, one in 24 cars will ever have a claim, but one in two Americans will have a long term requirement. That would 4% of the cars, but 50% of all Americans, and that looks like the odds are in favor of the cars.

Take a moment and quickly look around you. Do you see nine other people? Five of you will need Long Term Care in your lifetime! Do you only see five? Three of you will need it. Are you one of the “Need Long Term Care Group”, or one of the “Drop Dead (Life Insurance) Group”?

It comes down to making sense because if you are going to live to a ripe old age instead of dropping dead, you will need Long Term Care Insurance. It makes sense when you look at the difference in cost by waiting to initiate your protection versus the inherent risk for your family, your assets, and your estate.
